Scania in Sweden shows the way. One more step in proving that efficient public transport is functional, clean and, with sufficient support, a reality. Together with the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), the public transport operator for the Stockholm region SL, Vattenfall and the Södertälje Municipality. A bio-diesel hybrid bus with regenerative braking has been fitted out with a wireless receiver. The 200 kW wireless charger is installed at the last stop, where it takes 7 minutes for a fast charge. The charge suffices for the 10 km bus route. The bio-diesel internal combustion engine serves as a back-up and can also recharge the batteries. Scania is investing SEK 22 million and the Swedish Energy Agency with SEK 10 million.
